Mario is once again speaking up for himself and for Black women.

Critics have accused the singer of “only liking white girls,” a narrative he first swatted down last year with humor, insisting:
“I like good energy and who loves me the way that’s healthy. Could be Black, White, Mexican, alien… I dated an alien before it was great.”
The chatter reignited when baby news dropped this summer, sparking heated debates in his comments about his dating history. Mario took to Instagram to slam the narrative, declaring:
“I’m so tired of the Black women slander in the comments about how I don’t like Black women and how Black women aren’t loved!! If you’re making these comments, I’m convinced YOU have a problem with Black women. Black women are loved and needed!”
In a recent sit-down with Cam Newton, he doubled down, sharing that his bond with Black women is rooted in admiration for his grandmother and complicated by trauma with his mother. Mario emphasized he’s dated across cultures and rejects claims of bias, saying that his:
“relationship with Black women is evolving every day.”
