The beef between reigning Rap Queens Nicki Minaj and Cardi B may not be making headlines as much after their last epic clash, but that doesn’t mean anything has cooled between them.
And, let Minaj’s dedicated fan base (the #Barbz) tell it, Cardi recently tried to stoke the flames with a statement planted on her official X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
Rarely one to let a rumor go unaddressed, Cardi (born Belcalis Almanzar) took to Twitter on Monday (January 5) to debunk reports her father Carlos Almanzar was arrested on rape charges in the early 1990s.
“My dad has never been arrested in this county,” she began in the statement to her 37 million followers on the platform. “My dad is a immigrant from the Dominican Republic…he would be deported if he committed such a disgusting crime!”
Not stopping there, the GRAMMY winner lambasted the account spreading the report in a way that left some believing she was taking shots at Minaj.
“I don’t know why yall like playing these games just for you to be fake mad when I post who got those real mugshots, real evidence, AND REAL cases for rape…stop playing wit me and my family and leave me the fck alone fr before I start some shit today,” Cardi relayed.
Many believed the “real cases” was in reference to Nicki’s brother (Jelani Maraj) who was sentenced to 25 years in prison for child rape, her husband (Kenneth Petty) who is a registered sex offender due to a 1995 conviction for attempted first-degree rape in New York, and her late father who – according to Cardi – is rumored to have engaged in pedophilic behavior.
While Almanzar did not name Minaj as the target of her commentary, #Barbz still stepped in to flood the ‘Bodak Yellow’ star’s comment section in defense of their fave.
At writing, because Nicki is on a social media hiatus following the backlash from her perceived MAGA support, she has not made a public response to the alleged veiled shade.
