Chart Check: Jill Scott’s 25-Year Top 10 Record on Billboard’s R&B Chart Remains Intact with ‘To Whom This May Concern’ Album

Over a decade after Jill Scott‘s last album marched to the top of the Billboard 200, the GRAMMY-winning diva’s long-awaited follow-up – ‘To Whom This May Concern‘ – is keeping a two-and-a-half-decade top 10 record of hers intact.

First-Week Sales (SPS):  19,556 units

First-Week Sales (Pure): 8,779 units

Billboard 200 Debut:  #33

With total opening-week sales just shy of 20,000, Scott’s ‘Concern’ cruised right to the #33 spot on the updated Billboard 200 – marking the first LP of hers to miss the hitlist’s top 20 upon arrival.

And while the figure comes as the lowest premiere number to accompany any of her studio albums to Billboard to date, it was still enough to keep the diva’s 25-year top 10 streak on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally unbroken.

Arriving at #10 on that particular listing, its entry marks her sixth studio effort to land in the chart region and follows 2000’s ‘Who Is Jill Scott?‘ (#2 peak), 2004’s ‘Beautifully Human‘ (#1 peak), ‘The Real Thing‘ (#2 peak), ‘The Light of the Sun‘ (#1 peak), and ‘Woman‘ (#1 peak).

Among all her projects (including compilations and specialty efforts), ‘Concern’ marks the 9th time of her career appearing in the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums’ top 10.
