As music lovers continue applauding Bad Bunny for the cultural showcase that was his star-studded Super Bowl Halftime Show from Sunday night’s big game (February 8), there appears to be one who isn’t exactly leading the cheer for the GRAMMY-winning global superstar: Chris Brown.
Despite being hailed as one of his generation’s top performers, flaunting his two decades worth of hits aboard the world’s biggest stage (i.e. the Super Bowl Halftime Show) has always eluded Brown – much to the chagrin of his dedicated fans also known as #TeamBreezy.
Celebrity members of the stan group such as Ne-Yo, Tyga, and Boosie Badazz have publicly called for the R&B bad boy to headline next year’s edition of the spectacle, with the latter even beginning an online campaign recently to get the attention of decision makers at the NFL and Apple Music (the show’s sponsor).
Immodestly, Chris appears to share the opinion of the many who are looking to see him as a future headliner.
“I think it’s safe to say…they need me,” the ‘Loyal’ singer wrote on Instagram Stories on Sunday night (February 8).
And while he did not specify the “they” mentioned in his surprising quote, fans quickly pointed out the timestamp of the post was during Bunny’s celeb-packed halftime show featuring Cardi B, Ricky Martin, Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, and more.
At writing, Brown has not responded to the mixed reactions he’s garnered from his cryptic comment as some agreed with his assessment while others suggested he was salty.
Time will tell if Breezy will ever land the headlining spot at the coveted gig; he previously said he would “never do it,” but his manager later suggested the opposite.

Chris ain’t lying. He would have been waaaaaaaaaay better. Breezy did what he did to Rihanna in the summery of 536 B.C. but society, really the whites, still won’t let it go.
The show wasn’t relatable to the majority of the sport viewing population. It wasn’t good at all! Shakira and JLO were able to mix things well and unfortunately bad bunny fell flat. Chris Brown definitely would’ve put on a show and im sorry i didn’t see cardi B at any point so not sure why the post mentioned her 😂 we need entertainment and he didn’t deliver bottom line. The representation of all the latin countries was cute, but the only thing we understood as English speakers was when he said God bless America
Maybe you could invite Pedonika Minaj …. 😆
I think Bb did a great job,it’s about time we have someone perform celebrating us Latinos,Bravo, Bravo 👏! Can’t have black performers every year!!!!
