During the clip seen above, the ‘Paint the Town Red’ rapper purposely fumbled Chalamet’s name while reminding viewers that opera and ballet have existed for hundreds of years and still command respect from audiences worldwide.

She emphasized that while many industries face challenges, that doesn’t mean the passion surrounding them has disappeared.

The original remarks were made during a February panel discussion featuring Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey, where the ‘Marty Supreme’ actor said:

“I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though, like, no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there,” he said, which drew applause in the venue and criticism on social media. “I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I just took shots for no reason.”

Since then, the debate has spilled across social media with even Saturday Night Live poking fun at the controversy.
