Titled ‘Black Music Means Business: Driving Economic Growth in the UK,’ the study reveals that Black music has generated an estimated £24.5 billion for the UK music industry between 1994 and 2023, accounting for roughly 80% of the sector’s total £30 billion value.

Commissioned by the UK Music Diversity Taskforce and spearheaded by Ammo Talwar and Paulette Long, the report draws on extensive data analysis, interviews with industry leaders, and roundtable discussions with artists and executives.

Beyond celebrating the cultural and commercial impact of Black British music, the findings also highlight ongoing inequalities in representation, pay, and opportunities for Black creatives.

The report concludes with eight recommendations aimed at fostering greater investment, equity, and long-term growth across the UK music industry.
