Mounting a polling campaign in conjunction with their critically acclaimed ‘New Edition Way Tour‘ with Toni Braxton and Boyz II Men, legendary R&B group New Edition galvanized their legion of fans across the country to vote for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 class.
Despite accumulating over 1 million votes (one of the largest turnouts since fan voting began for the organization), their efforts proved futile as they were snubbed for induction.

Sade, Luther Vandross, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, and Wu-Tang Clan will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame this year, leaving fan-favorite nominees New Edition, Mariah Carey (who accumulated over 500,000 fan votes), Lauryn Hill, Shakira, and Pink to try again another year.
While Vandross is a first-time nominee, Sade has been nominated in the past.
“Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony – it’s going to be an unforgettable night,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, in an official statement after the announcement on Monday (April 13).
For special honors, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, and Gram Parsons will receive the Early Influence Award while Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, and Rick Rubin will receive the Musical Excellence Award.
The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be taped at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on November 14 then air in December on ABC and Disney+.
