Beyonce may not appear in ‘Mother Mary’, but her presence is being felt loud and clear thanks to Anne Hathaway.
The Oscar winner is front and center in the upcoming psychological drama, stepping into the shoes of a global Pop star navigating fame, identity, and emotional fallout. And while the story takes its own dark turn, it was Queen Bey’s real-life grind that helped shape the performance.

Speaking about her preparation, the actress revealed she leaned heavily on the superstar’s iconic ‘Homecoming’ film as a blueprint for discipline and artistry.
“I watched ‘Homecoming’ so much… even though she’s been Beyoncé for so long, she still puts in that much effort. It was really inspiring,”
The Hollywood star explained that while she’s spent decades in the spotlight, ‘Mother Mary’ pushed her into new territory, especially when it came to exploring the blurred lines between public persona and private self:
“It’s always been a fear of mine… what happens if the persona takes over? If something goes wrong, there’s nothing there to catch you.”

Directed by David Lowery and co-starring Michaela Coel, the film leans into the emotional highs and lows of Pop stardom, with music playing a central role in its storytelling.
