Billie Eilish Is Fighting Her Own Tics So You Don't Notice, And That's Exhausting

Billie Eilish is clutching her elbows. Twitching her knees. And smiling through it all.

Full story below…

The 24-year-old singer sat down with Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast. She opened up about living with Tourette’s syndrome. And she dropped some truth bombs.

“I do have Tourette’s and I have vocal tics,” Eilish said. “Luckily for me and for everyone else, they’re mostly just noises.”

But here’s the kicker. She suppresses them. Constantly.

“When I’m in an interview, I’m doing everything in my power to suppress all of my tics,” she explained. “As soon as I leave the room, I have to let them all out.”

Poehler asked about intrusive thoughts. Eilish kept it real. “Imagine those intrusive thoughts, but your mouth has to say them out loud,” she said. “That is Tourette syndrome.”

She also pointed out the ignorance people show. If she has a tic attack? People ask, “Are you OK?” She wants to scream: This is normal.

“You’re not looking at my knees,” she said. “They are tic-ing constantly under this table. My elbows are … I’m clenching my arms the entire time.”

She does it all to avoid being “distracting.” On camera. In conversation. Every single day.

“Some people don’t even have the privilege of getting to suppress them at all,” she added.

So next time you see Billie looking perfectly still? She’s working harder than you think.

    What? Nobody controls Tourette’s!
And unless she’s a high functioning,
isn’t her team living off a disability?
