Taking to Instagram Stories, the performer thanked fans for streaming the album while also acknowledging the criticism head-on.
He wrote:
“Just wanna say thank you to everyone who listened to this album.
Been a lot of mixed reviews and I can take my audience’s criticism and opinions.
The last 3 albums have came under the same scrutiny and it eventually grew on people.
Thank you for even taking the time out to listen ❤️”
The message arrives just days after headlines surrounding the singer dominated headlines following reports of a shooting incident outside his Los Angeles home, as well as legal drama with baby mommas.
It also comes ahead of his ‘R&B Tour’ with Usher this summer.
As for the music, time will tell whether ‘Brown’ follows the same trajectory as his previous releases and becomes a fan favorite in the months ahead.

Its not a bad album tbh. The problem is Chris is becoming too predictable and the whole 22 to 27 songs per album niche is old now. Like frfr sir, you are NOT janet! Janet only succeeded in that because all her albums tell a story. Its like shes writing personal diaries to you with each track and interlude. Not only that, each album has a theme that brings you along on a ride. Chris just fills his albums with songs and just hopes one will pop out and grab the listeners ear and go on trend but without a change of tone and variety, it gets boring and no one is listening anymore. He needs to learn this and grow to be a better artist. This album should have been a love letter to his fans and should have only had 10 or 12 songs that were bangers from start to finish with no skips whatsoever and limited features. Lets hope the next one is better and not as repetitive.
Janet has only released two 20+ track albums, and that last of those was released nearly 30 years ago.
You missed the point. Fact of the matter is he likes long albums like Janet and its not working for him.
I must have freaky ears as this is the 1st time I liked ANYTHING BY HIM since No Air. Even added a staggering 11 SONGS to my playlist! Will write it off to the novelty effect. 🤣
