The 2026 FIFA World Cup is gearing up to be quite the superstar-studded affair.
Just days after the event’s organizers lifted the lid on news Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, and Tyla would be among the hitmakers headlining opening ceremonies across North America, they have sent the fan bases of Shakira, BTS, and the Queen of Pop Madonna into a royal frenzy with news the trio of chart-toppers will be making history as headliners of the soccer tournament’s first-ever halftime show.
Shakira’s inclusion comes as little surprise as the Colombian diva is already the owner of the official 2026 World Cup song ‘Dai Dai,’ but supporters of Madonna and BTS were stunned at the Global Citizen announcement of their securement of the gig.
Set for Sunday (July 19), their collective performance will reportedly run 11 minutes.
First announced at midnight on Thursday (May 14), the news was unveiled in a social media video starring Coldplay’s Chris Martin alongside ‘Sesame Street‘ favorites Elmo, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Cookie Monster.
