Taylor Swift fans (affectionately known as #Swifties) unknowingly avoided tragedy as a man who planned a terrorist attack on her Vienna concerts during the history-making ‘Eras Tour’ had his plans thwarted.
Now, he has been sentenced for the crime.

A 21-year-old Austrian citizen, identified only as Beran A. under local privacy rules, received a 15-year prison sentence on Thursday (May 28) after being found guilty of plotting an attack on Swift’s 2024 concerts at Ernst Happel Stadium.
In police custody since August that year, reports say he planned to use knives or homemade explosives against Swift fans.
Before the court adjourned to decide on a verdict, Beran A. apologized.
“I would just like to say that I am sorry,” he said before his lawyer, Anna Mair, added outside the courtroom, “Of course, he deeply regrets it all. He says it was the biggest mistake of his life.”
The three Vienna shows were scheduled for August 2024 as part of Swift’s record-breaking ‘Eras Tour’ but were canceled after authorities uncovered the plot.
Swift later reflected on the ordeal.
“Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
Beran A. pleaded not guilty to additional charges related to a broader simultaneous attack plot.
