Per the latest Official Albums Chart, ‘The Essential Michael Jackson’ has rocketed back to #1 in the UK for the first time in 17 years.
The 2005 greatest hits set originally enjoyed a lengthy chart reign in 2009 following the icon’s death, but the renewed success comes as audiences flock to theaters for ‘Michael,’ which has already crossed the $400 million mark worldwide.
The resurgence doesn’t stop there either.
Jackson’s classic 1982 album ‘Thriller’ leapt to#6, while 1987’s ‘Bad’ moonwalked back into the Top 10 for the first time in over a decade at #8.
The numbers make clear that the buzz around MJ is translating far beyond the big screen.
