A fresh debate surrounding Verzuz has erupted online, and this time, T.I. is at the center of the conversation.
Full story below…
The rapper recently appeared on ‘The Joe Budden Podcast,’ where he shared surprisingly blunt thoughts about the hit battle platform, making clear he no longer sees himself participating in the series. In a moment that quickly sparked backlash, Tip referred to Verzuz as “poor people activity,” suggesting it no longer aligns with where he currently stands in his career unless serious money is involved.
His comments raised eyebrows, especially given that the Atlanta rapper has previously entertained possible face-offs with names like 50 Cent and Jeezy matchups that fans once heavily anticipated.
The remark soon caught the attention of Timbaland, who co-created Verzuz alongside Swizz Beatz during the height of the pandemic.
Responding under a post discussing T.I.’s comments, the producer offered just one word:
“Huh?”
Though brief, the reaction quickly spread online, reigniting conversations about Verzuz’s cultural value, artist legacy, and whether the platform is about celebration, competition, or business.
The discourse? Far from over.

He said what he said! Verzuz has turned into such a ghetto hot mess now and it’s sad to see for my people. When Brandy/Monica, Patti/Gladys, Swv/TLC, and Keyshia/Ashanti did their versus, it was so pure and full of nostalgia with the stories they told behind each record. After that, it just became a ghetto hot mess. It needs to be cancelled or rerouted but the recent events after 2021 have been a mess.
