Sam Smith is entering a new era.

The multi-award-winning singer-songwriter has officially announced their fifth studio album, ‘Hazel Eyes,’ arriving this August. As a first taste of the project, Smith released the single ‘My Guy.’

Full story below…

Recorded in part at New York’s famed Electric Lady Studios, the 12-track set blends influences from baroque pop, folk, country, and R&B while placing Smith’s unmistakable vocals front and center.

To kick off the new era, the release of ‘My Guy’ described by Smith as a song they had “waited a lifetime” to create, offers listeners an early glimpse into the emotional core of ‘Hazel Eyes.’

“And like all good things, it caught me by surprise/ You could dream he’s yours all you want, but he’s mine, mine, mine/ He’s my guy/ He’s my guy” Smith sings on the new single.

The album follows a series of intimate residency performances across North America, where Smith debuted several new songs and welcomed surprise guests including Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Brandi Carlile, and Kim Petras.

Cue ‘my most personal album to date / me at my most authentic / a celebration of love in all its shades / the album I’ve always wanted to make’ type cliche quotes. The only one missing will be ‘Sam entering his flop era’ x

Am I the only one who hears an annoying speech impediment and nasality in his voice since his debut? Bet the weight gain clogged up his resonators. Song sucks.
