Over 6 years separate Brandy fans (affectionately called #STARZ) from the R&B diva’s last studio album, 2020’s chart-topping ‘B7,’ but – if commentary from a recent interview is any indication – the wait for the LP’s follow-up may soon be coming to a close.

Just two days after wowing New Orleans with a stunning live performance of some of her biggest hits as headliner of the 2026 Essence Festival, B-Rocka rocked a state over to visit her hometown of McComb, MS on Monday (July 6) to be the center of a celebration honoring her contributions to the community and the culture.
There, she was also bestowed a key to the Camellia City.
“Every summer [McComb] opened me with open arms,” she said to an adoring audience who gathered downtown to witness the ceremony. “My grandparents, my Auntie Bag that’s here today, I love you. Family that loved me so completely that I never questioned if I belonged. Love is simply the language that we spoke.”
Behind the scenes, she caught up with local EMMY-nominated morning news anchor Kayla Thompson to not only discuss the city’s impact on her life and career but also see what’s up next.
“You know what? I’ve been hearing about I should do a new album, [so] I think I wanna do a new album. I gotta do something because I want to perform – so I better get to it,” the GRAMMY winner relayed with a smile.
While Bran stopped short of relaying when fans can expect to hear new music, the tease alone was certainly enough to get longtime supporters excited.
The key to McComb comes as the latest in a string of honors the R&B diva received just in 2026 alone including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Icon Award during this year’s GRAMMY week.
I need her and Timbaland back in the studio and I would love a collab with Missy as well.
