Snoop Dogg is bringing his life story to the big screen, and the long-awaited biopic now has an official release date.

Universal Pictures has announced that the film will arrive in theaters on August 6, 2027.

Jonathan Daviss, best known for Netflix’s ‘Outer Banks’, will portray the Rap veteran, whose journey from Calvin Broadus Jr. to global superstar will anchor the movie.

Craig Brewer, the filmmaker behind ‘Hustle & Flow’, is directing and has also revised the script.

Snoop will produce alongside Brian Grazer, with the project serving as the first film under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal.

Speaking about the movie at CinemaCon earlier this year, the 54-year-old said:

“After my brothers got to tell their story with ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ now it’s my turn. My movie is going to be rated R, I guarantee that. So get your parents’ permission.”

Universal previously brought the story of N.W.A to cinemas with ‘Straight Outta Compton’ in 2015. The Oscar-nominated film featured LaKeith Stanfield as a younger Snoop.

The forthcoming biopic will now place the spotlight firmly on his own rise, from the release of his landmark 1993 debut album ‘Doggystyle’ to his decades-long impact across music, television, film, and business.
