Despite many pointing to her animated delivery, playful vocal inflections and vibrant aesthetic as echoes of the rap queen, Trim insisted her music stands apart.
In a new interview with NME, the rising rapper said ‘Coconut Water’ doesn’t sound like anyone else’s material; she revealed:
“Honestly… I don’t really get it, ‘Coconut Water’ don’t sound nothing like nobody. Not even Beyoncé.”
Instead, she says her focus has always been on creating a signature style that is unmistakably hers.
Trim also revisited the backlash surrounding her description of ‘Pass The Tiara‘ as her ‘Thriller.’ Clarifying the viral remark, she stressed she wasn’t comparing herself to Michael Jackson, explaining:
“Every song has to have meaning, every song has to be your best work of art.”
Whether listeners agree or not, Trim is making it clear she is focused on being herself.

Now Nadia girl YOU don’t even believe that! And if she believes that she is not imitating replicating or similar to the Nicki Minaj’s entire animated wrap and mannerisms, then she’s delusional. And this shows that her A&R Ms. Brooklyn, over at Atlantic record is really controlling her.
So much like Nicki that it’s embarrassing… the only reason it’s keeping her name in the news and her & her team def know it. But in the words of Gaga, “all publicity is good publicity…”
