Dolly Parton fans are rallying behind a major tribute to the late Country icon.
A petition calling for Nashville International Airport to be renamed in her honor has surged past 117,000 signatures following her death at age 80.

The Change.org petition, launched in January 2025, had around 50,000 signatures before Parton’s passing. It has since gained tens of thousands more as mourners seek a lasting tribute to the beloved superstar.
Fellow Country star Sheryl Crow has thrown her support behind the effort, saying:
“People are talking about trying to get the Nashville airport… changed to the Dolly Parton International Airport. I’m like, ‘Yes! I think we should.’”
Tennessee State Rep. Todd Warner, who previously sponsored a bill to rename the airport after President Donald Trump, is also backing the Parton proposal.
“I will definitely introduce legislation to rename the BNA airport Dolly Parton International Airport! I would be fine with Dolly Parton, and I think President Trump would be fine with Dolly Parton International Airport.”
The airport is already honoring the ‘Jolene’ legend by lighting its parking garages pink.
There are, however, procedural hurdles before any potential name change could become official, including existing airport naming rules and approval requirements.
For those behind the petition, the move would be a fitting permanent salute to a woman whose impact on Tennessee, music, philanthropy, and popular culture stretched around the globe.
