Jermaine Dupri has pulled the plug on his blockbuster $18 million lawsuit against Sony Music Entertainment.
Less than two months after the So So Def founder took the music giant to court over alleged unpaid royalties connected to decades of hits, the case has abruptly come to an end.

According to Billboard, lawyers for Dupri and his companies filed to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit on August 28, informing the court that the parties had:
“resolved the matter.”
No financial terms or further details about the apparent resolution have been disclosed, while both Sony and the hitmaker’s camp have declined to elaborate publicly.
As reported, JD’s original complaint accused Sony of years of underreporting and withholding royalties connected to music from Mariah Carey, Usher, Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, and more.
The producer alleged that more than $18 million was owed across the parties’ decades-long business relationship, including millions connected to Kris Kross’ early albums.
Interestingly, the dismissal was filed without prejudice. In legal terms, that leaves the door open for Dupri and his companies to potentially bring the claims again in the future.
For now, however, it appears the high-profile music industry showdown has reached a resolution away from the courtroom.
