Kanye West is facing a six-figure legal battle that places the debate surrounding AI use in his music firmly back under the spotlight.
An anonymous producer claims he created hundreds of synthetic vocals for ‘Vultures 2’ and ‘Bully’, only to be left without payment or proper credit.

According to Rolling Stone, the producer filed the lawsuit as John Doe in Los Angeles Superior Court.
He alleges that Ye hired him on an “emergency basis” on August 1, 2024, just two days before ‘Vultures 2’ arrived.
Working under extreme time pressure, the producer says he built at least 13 custom AI voice models, delivered more than 400 individual vocal generations, and recorded source material using his own voice. He claims his work can be heard across five tracks on the album.
The collaboration allegedly continued in October 2024, when he contributed further AI vocal production to ‘Bully’ and helped write two songs that were later commercially released.
The claims are particularly notable because West promoted the eventual ‘Bully’ release as containing “no AI”.
Despite repeated demands, John Doe alleges that neither West nor YZY supplied written contracts, paid him, or added his name to the projects’ streaming credits.
He is seeking at least $110,000 in compensatory damages, as well as double damages under Los Angeles’ freelance worker protections, bringing the potential demand to at least $220,000.
The filing follows West’s recent settlement with former assistant Lauren Pisciotta and his six-figure loss in the ‘Hurricane’ copyright case.
A representative for the Rap star has not publicly responded to the latest allegations.
