The Predictions Are In: Ariana Grande’s ‘petal’ Set For Biggest Debut Since 2019

Ariana Grande is smelling sweet success with her new album.

The Pop titan returned Friday (July 31) with ‘petal,’ her eighth studio album and first full-length in over two years.

Now, with the opening US tracking week underway, forecasters have the 33-year-old locked in for a chart week that ranks among the biggest of her entire career.

Full story below…

Per HITS Daily Double, the Republic Records release is a lock for #1 on the Billboard 200 and is projected to bow with units north of:

300,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]

Should said sales blossom in full, it will see ‘petal’ deliver Grande’s biggest launch since 2019’s ‘thank u, next’ (which premiered with 360,000).

Most striking, however, is the composition of that figure. Sales and streaming are tracking at roughly 50% each, a rare balance in an era where openings of this size are typically streaming-heavy.

For context, 2024’s ‘eternal sunshine’ arrived with 227,000 units. ‘petal’ is on course to top that by some margin, with all twelve solo cuts having dominated streaming services on day one.

The feat follows the arrival of the cinematic ‘petal’ video, which sees the songbird flex her acting chops opposite the album’s title track.
