Chris Brown has scored a notable legal win in the dog attack case that saw him ordered to pay his former housekeeper almost $13 million.

Per TMZ, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has granted Brown’s request for a new trial on damages in the case brought by former housekeeper Maria Avila.
However, the new trial will only happen if Avila does not agree to reduce the jury award from $12.9 million to $9.5 million.
According to the report, the judge found there was insufficient evidence of permanent nerve damage and the value assigned to future pain and suffering, resulting in the court determining that the original award was excessive.
As reported, Avila alleged she was attacked by a large dog while working at Brown’s Tarzana home in 2020. A jury later sided with her and awarded the near-$13 million sum.
Brown, who denied wrongdoing, went on to demand a new trial, with his legal team taking issue with elements of the case, including discussion of his past arrests during proceedings.
TMZ adds that Avila has also been seeking a cut of Brown’s tour profits from his concerts with Usher in an effort to satisfy the judgment.
Now, all eyes are on whether she accepts the reduced award or heads back to court for another round over damages.
