D4vd is heading toward trial over the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, and her family has now made their position on a possible death sentence crystal clear.

Speaking ahead of what would have been the teenager’s 16th birthday, Celeste’s loved ones voiced support for capital punishment should the singer ultimately be convicted.

Per TMZ, the family said:

“If the death penalty were activated, it would be perfect for this kind of human being, devoid of feelings and emptiness inside, and without conscience.”

They added that the final outcome is ultimately in the hands of “God” and the California justice system.

The remarks come as the high-profile case continues moving toward trial.

As reported, a judge ruled in July that prosecutors had presented enough evidence for D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, to stand trial. He has pleaded not guilty.

His defense has also undergone a major change, with the singer’s private legal team exiting the case and a public defender taking over.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has confirmed that the death penalty remains an option. However, prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will formally seek it.

D4vd is next due in court on October 19.
