Lil Durk friends, family, and fans may be celebrating news he was found not guilty on all counts in his murder-for-hire case following three days of jury deliberations, but the family of the victim of the rapper’s alleged action says their pursuit of justice is far from over.
In news that broke late Friday (September 11), the GRAMMY-winning emcee – who was facing life in prison if convicted – was found not guilty on all five counts related to his murder-for-hire case: conspiracy to commit stalking, stalking causing death, conspiracy to use interstate commerce facilities in a murder-for-hire resulting in death, stalking using a dangerous weapon, and use of interstate commerce facilities in a murder for hire resulting in death.
The trial stemmed from his alleged involvement in the 2022 shooting death of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson and the shooting injury of the slain man’s cousin, fellow rapper Quando Rondo.
And while Durk’s team may be celebrating the victory, there are still a few legal battles ahead.
First, the family of Pab have indicated they plan to pursue justice via an alternate route.
“We feel there was ample evidence for a jury to find that Durk Banks was responsible for Mr. Robinson’s death under this standard,” their attorney Joshua Dorminy said in the statement before asserting they will explore remedies via a civil claim against Durk.
Scheduled to kick off next month in Chicago, the trial was originally attempted to be tacked on to the murder-for-hire case by the prosecutors but a judge ruled to try the cases separately.
