Mariah Carey‘s perennial hit ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You‘ may have broken Hot 100 records last year when it become the longest-reigning #1 song in the chart’s 68-year history, but now a new cowgirl has come into town and galloped right past that once-unprecedented feat.
Full story below…
Music fans have chosen to keep Ella Langley‘s gargantuan hit ‘Choosin’ Texas’ in the Hot 100’s top spot for a 23rd week.
Here are the numbers that powered the placement:
- Streaming ≈ 21.8 million U.S.-based streams
- Sales ≈ 6,000 sold
- Radio airplay ≈ 58.3 million audience impressions
With staying power driven primarily by radio, ‘Choosin’ – which also benefitted from a handsome mix of streaming and pure sales – becomes the first song to ever hold the Hot 100’s top spot for 23 weeks.
Beyond ousting Carey’s ‘Christmas’ from the record-holding spot, Langley’s inescapable smash extends its run as the all-genre list’s longest-reigning Country song by leaving the 19-week and 16-week respective reigns of Shaboozey‘s ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)‘ and Morgan Wallen‘s ‘Last Night’ further in its rearview.
And while Ella’s fans are taking to social media in droves to celebrate the historic achievement, Mariah’s (affectionately known as #Lambs) are likely not too pressed as the diva’s yuletide rebound is undoubtedly afoot come late November.
Until we find out just how short-lived the reign of ‘Choosin Texas’ will be, look below to see who joins the Country diva on the updated Hot 100’s top 10.

Grandmariah who?
Muahahahahahahahahaha…
Mariah is a walking time capsule from the 90s, clinging to her Christmas hits like they’re a life support system. Singing festive jingles in your 20s? Cute and seasonal. But when you’re in your 50s, still obsessing over ‘All I Want for Christmas’ just screams ‘someone desperately auditioning for a midlife crisis intervention or mental illness hospital 🥴
Who the he’ll is this bum? Mariah better snatch that ish back this holiday season!
