80’s R&B stars James DeBarge and Chico DeBarge, members of the famed musical family DeBarge, have landed in headlines due to a recent arrest on drug charges.
According to reports obtained by People, the singing brothers were appehended by police in Burbank, California, during a traffic stop on Thursday night (August 27).
While James was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance, 60-year-old Chico (born Jonathan DeBarge) was arrested on the same charge and on a separate warrant outstanding.
At the time of this report, it remains unclear if they have entered pleas or retained attorneys.
This isn’t the first time over his career James has made headlines for drug abuse-related accusations, however.
The 63-year-old, briefly married to Pop royal Janet Jackson in the mid-1980s, was reportedly such a frequent drug user it ultimately led to the dissolution of their marriage.
At writing, the Debarges have not issued joint or separate statements about their most recent legal woes.
