Kanye West is seeking more time before facing off in court over a lawsuit brought by a former Donda Academy security guard.
With the civil trial fast approaching, the rapper’s legal team has formally asked a judge to move proceedings back, citing a number of complications they say have affected their ability to prepare.

The trial stems from a lawsuit filed by Benjamin Provo, a former security guard at Donda Academy.
According to court documents cited by TMZ, West’s attorneys are asking for the current October 12 trial date to be moved to May 17, 2027, or another workable date.
The filing accuses Provo and his attorney of causing delays during the discovery process, with West also seeking sanctions against them.
His lawyers additionally argue that the present date clashes with planned performances in Russia on October 10 and 11.
Those concerts, however, are not yet locked in. St. Petersburg’s Gazprom Arena reportedly backed out as the venue last month, leaving the promoter searching for another location.
The filing also points to former Yeezy chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos, whom West’s attorneys describe as one of the people most familiar with the allegations. They argue that his recent deportation by U.S. immigration authorities has further complicated preparations for trial.
Provo alleges that West treated Black employees less favourably and objected to books about prominent Black figures. He also claims the rapper demanded that he cut his dreadlocks, which held religious significance for him, and that he lost his job after refusing.
West and the other defendants have denied the allegations.
For now, the October 12 trial date remains in place, with the judge yet to rule on the postponement request.
