Sam Smith MISSES the Billboard 200 Entirely with ‘Hazel Eyes’ Despite Being One of the Week’s Top-Selling New Studio Albums

Published: Tuesday 1st Sep 2026 by Rashad

Sam Smith‘s decade-long top 10 run on the Billboard 200 came to a screeching halt this week when their latest album, ‘Hazel Eyes,’ was nowhere to be seen on the all-genre chart.

The shocking chart absence of ‘Hazel’ comes as a first for the 5-time GRAMMY winner whose previous lowest-charting effort, 2023’s ‘Gloria,’ debuted at #7 on the all-genre hitlist thanks to the wild success of its housed smash ‘Unholy.’

What’s more, the news is particularly surprising given the August 21-released LP did appear on Billboard’s latest Top Album Sales countdown as the week’s sixth top-selling new project (among studio albums).  For context, that chart is only reflective of pure sales and does not tally commercial performance from streaming outlets.

Home to singles ‘My Guy,’ ‘Oh Mother,’ ‘Love Is a Stillness,’ ‘When He’s Gone,’ ‘Constant Companion,’ and ‘To Be Free,’ Smith’s newest album – beyond not being printed on the updated Billboard 200 – also comes as their first studio effort to lack ownership of a Hot 100 hit.

Ouch!

Sam’s Billboard 200 top 10 streak – which began with the gargantuan success of 2014’s ‘In the Lonely Hour’ – may have come to an end, but look below to see who did make in this week’s edition of the coveted chart region.

Have been scratching my head at his appeal since his debut: whiny voice
and now looks like an obese pirate.
    Mainstream tired of LGBT ubiquity.
