Selena’s Brother Files $1 Million Suit Against Their Sister

A.B. Quintanilla III is taking legal action against his sister Suzette Quintanilla over profits connected to their late sister, Selena.

The musician claims he is owed more than $1 million under a family agreement governing the Tejano icon’s entertainment interests.

According to TMZ, A.B. filed the lawsuit Thursday against Suzette and companies associated with Q Productions.

He alleges that an agreement executed after Selena’s 1995 murder entitled him to a share of net profits generated by her music, image, intellectual property, and other commercial ventures.

A.B. claims Suzette later assumed control of the businesses managing those interests but has not paid the contractual share he believes he is due. He is asking the court for payment and a full accounting.

The accusations have not been proven, and Suzette had not publicly responded to the newly reported complaint when this article was prepared.

The filing follows an earlier statement from Suzette and mother Marcella Quintanilla saying they could not locate a lawsuit after reports of a family dispute first surfaced.

Selena’s widower, Chris Perez, has meanwhile said he does not intend to become involved in the legal conflict.

The courtroom development arrives as interest in Selena’s legacy remains strong. Beyoncé recently celebrated that influence by combining ‘Irreemplazable’ with ‘Como La Flor’.
