Snoop Dogg is bringing West Coast flavor to the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.
The Rap icon has been named host of this year’s ceremony, which returns to Los Angeles for the first time since 2017.
He will also serve as an executive producer of the telecast.

The VMAs will broadcast live from the Peacock Theater on September 27 across CBS and MTV, with streaming available on Paramount+.
Reflecting on the assignment, Snoop described it as a homecoming:
“To come back now and host the VMAs… that’s a full-circle moment for me.”
Per the Associated Press’ September 10 report, the 54-year-old first performed on the VMA stage in 1994. He has since earned 13 nominations and three Moon Person trophies.
This year’s hosting job arrives during an especially visible chapter for the veteran, whose recent television run has included Olympics coverage, ‘The Voice,’ and a New Year’s Eve special.
Madonna leads this year’s VMA field with 11 nods. Taylor Swift follows with nine, while Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each scored seven.
Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award, with further performers and presenters still to be announced.
With Snoop holding the mic, the VMAs’ return to Los Angeles now has a fitting master of ceremonies.
