Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige braved a royal backlash recently, making global headlines after an AI-generated advertisement seemingly showed the R&B legend embracing a song created by artificial intelligence.
As the blowback increased over the week, now reports are indicating her team never actually approved the campaign.

As reported, the 85-second clip, released by AI music platform Suno, features Blige in a studio reacting to a track that bears similarities to her signature 90’s and 2000s sound.
In the brief video (seen above), she appears to praise the technology and suggest adding strings and a beat.
There’s just one major problem: Blige seems to have never authorized the ad.
In a statement to Variety, Suno says:
“We entered into a business deal with someone who presented themselves as Ms. Blige’s official representative. As soon as we learned this was not the case, and that Ms. Blige was uncomfortable, we terminated the advertising campaign.”
The controversy arrives as Suno faces mounting legal pressure from major music companies and artists over AI and copyright concerns.
At writing, Blige nor a rep from her team has issued an official statement on the hoopla.
