It’s finally time for the Sugababes!
Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan, and Siobhan Donaghy have officially announced their long-awaited new album – their first, as the original lineup, in 26 years.
And the news came paired with the set’s latest single ‘Ghost.’

After a week-long tease (and over a decade since reforming), the iconic Brit-Pop trio confirmed that they will release their eagerly anticipated comeback album on February 12, 2027.
Aptly, it’s simply titled ‘Sugababes.’
Preceded by taster singles ‘Jungle,’ ‘Shook,’ and ‘Weeds,’ the signalling of the project’s arrival came part and parcel with its latest effort, ‘Ghost.’
Helmed by Pop maestros Jon Shave and Wayne Hector, the exquisite cut serves up the eclectic sound fans have come to love from the group, with a contemporary twist.
Speaking with British Vogue, Donaghy revealed that the song was inspired by the rocky rollercoaster that was her first love.
“He essentially ghosted me before we even had the terminology for it.”
She explained that the unusual experience of grieving someone who was still out there helped shape the song.
It’s been quite the journey for the group, who first reformed in 2011 (after each leaving previous lineups in the preceding years). At the time, legalities meant they returned under the alias MKS (Mutya Keisha Siobhan) and released the incredible ‘Flatline’ (the pulse of which continues to hit hard to this day). However, a further legal battle over the Sugababes name would halt that run temporarily (albeit for years) before they emerged victorious in 2019.
Reflecting on that chapter, Buchanan told the publication:
“I had to take on a few giants.”
Buchanan explained that rights contained in older contracts formed part of the battle to reclaim the name, while stressing that the process was neither easy nor inexpensive.
In the time since then, they released their would-be 2013 comeback effort ‘The Lost Tapes’ as a mixtape in 2022, dominated the live circuit with sets including their triumphant Glastonbury showings and a homecoming O2 Arena show.
Now, at long last, it’s time for the group’s next musical outing.
