It’s fair to say Mariah Carey‘s vocals have been majorly elusive on her new tour ‘The Elusive Chanteuse Show’.
Yet, as the diva has shown time in and out, she’s not one to be counted out. For, she’s often just one move away from redemption or emancipation, if you will.
Such was the case during the trek’s stop in Tiajin, China yesterday. Because, when tasked with belting hits such as ‘Always Be My Baby’, the songbird sounded…better. Much…better.

Granted the video quality was jarring, the performance itself was respectable. It goes to show that with a measured effort to maintain her “new voice”, Mimi can sound solid.

I’m giving her a break because it’s been years since she’s toured and her first since becoming a mother. Giving credit where it’s due, I’m glad to see her back in action. She has nothing left to prove to anybody.

Her firt concert in Japan was clearly the worst. Her concerts in China are being better. For some reason her incredible but very fragile and changing voice was in a bad shape this October, like the worst I´ve heard it since 2008, but it often recovers and goes up and down as proved all these last years since 2008 for example. She´s here to saty, not to mention her musicianship and songwriting skills will always let her create albums and songs.

One of her best live this year. Reminds us why she’s been one if the queens of pop! Just needed to use her voice more. She hasn’t toured in years, so probably isn’t used to using her voice day in and day out like she once did. Solid effort and performance 🙂
She does WAYYYYYY BETTER, so good for her. She just has to get her confidence back and not be so stressed so her vocals won’t be restricted. Her album is nearly perfect though, but nothing tips The Emancipation of Mimi.
That album was a hot mess stop lying for mariah so she can stop being lazy and give us classic music again..
Sweetheart, we must’ve not listened to the same album… I can skip over Meteorite (even though I think she did it after seeing how badly people wanted to be famous after American Idol, so I understand it and it’s cute for a throwback to Diana & etc), Camouflage, & Money, but the rest of that album is it for me. I live for Cry., Make it Look Good (that melody is genuis), & FADED! I don’t think MC has put work out this good in 9 years.
Good job Mariah. It seems as if her voice is improving with each show. Hopefully, whatever she’s doing, she keeps on doing it.

Honestly it looked kind of boring to me. I love Mariah she has hits on top of hits but I like a show with movement(good to great dancing) ala Mrs. Jackson. If not, less standing in a ball room gown and posing for the majority of the show would be nice.

She’s an amazing vocalist and an impeccable songwriter, but Mariah never was a live performer, and it doesn’t take anything away from her. However, in those rare moments that she gives a perfect performance, this who hear it will feel like we’ve ask just been saved, as Teri Hatcher once said.

m the VMAs and really discuss some vocals? LOL. Lastly, it’s no secret that Mariah has has vocal nodules her entire life. This is the longest break she has ever taken in the history of her career so she’s just trying to whip her voice back into shape. Clearly it’s working.
