Mariah Carey received a frosty reception upon setting sail on the Asian leg of her new tour, The Elusive Chanteuse Show earlier this month.
For, despite bringing her heavy catalogue of hits along for the ride, her voice just couldn’t carry them – croaking and cracking at multiple points.
However, as reported, the diva appears to be whipping her chords back into shape and is garnering better press because of it. And while we’ve been wondering what she’s been doing to tune her instrument, she shared her secret on Instagram today – posting a clip clearly aimed at her critics.

Although it nice to hear her do her whistle register live, it is not the vocal register that is in question. We want to hear her belting, clearly and sing in mid and upper register without any cracks or altering when trying to hit a note. Anyway, this is nice.

My Queen! I’m so glad to see she’s working on her voice. She’s still extremely stressed, but I need her to forget about that and continue the HUGE improvement that’s she’s giving. Anyway, it was obvious Mariah´s impressive and fragile instrument was having problems during the first two nights of the tour but that it wasn´t the state of her voice for life. She´s been sounding great in China.
