Have Rihanna‘s lazy ways finally caught up with her?
The campaign for the model’s newest ‘ANTI’ single ‘Kiss It Better’ set sail last week, yet has already struck an iceberg.

Though praised for being one of the 28-year-old’s best songs in years, the release was almost unanimously panned after it was paired with a non-event of a video.
The clip, which features the star doing little else than exposing her modesty, seems to be having an adverse effect on the song’s commercial clout.
As at writing, the visual has barely wracked up 10 million views (slow by Rihanna standards), while the track is nowhere to be found on the iTunes Top 100 in the US. Beyond its #167 Stateside placing, it currently sits at #80 and below in every major market on the Apple tally.
On the streaming front, the current Spotify count reads as:

Being the fair and unbiased outlet we are, it is imperative to stress that ‘Work’ is still #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after six weeks and remains inside the top 10 on US iTunes.
One does have to wonder, especially in light of ‘Kiss” performance, just how much of that was attributable to guest star Drake.
All hell broke loose when we touted the song’s initial topping of the Hot 100 to Drizzy, but with the absence of a well-selling co-star Rih seems to be in free-fall.
What’s more, in an era where the likes of Justin Bieber, Adele, and Taylor Swift have multiple hits on the go, the argument that one single can’t co-exist with the other is debatable.
Still, it’s not over until it’s over (even though the writing looks to be on the wall). With an official add date at radio set for tomorrow, it’ll be interesting to see if there’s any

It was just released as a single – it’s barely been four days since it was released and is already charting in the Top 30 (24) of “Top 40” radio and the song itself isn’t supposed to receive full adds until tomorrow – its doing wonderdully in the U.K though. “Needed Me” is doing just fine as well and was charting in the Top 40 of the Hot 100 without an official release at all.

Rihanna is the only Black female artist with consistent presence on the Hot 100 and has been the only Black female to chart at #1 (9 times) since 2010 so even if this song falters, her achievements are already set in stone.
Oh, get a fuccking life TGJ. It was just released as a damn single and is a ballad at that. When was the last time a power ballad topped the chart outside of Adele? At least give the song another 3 weeks before saying anything! Shiiit!
She should have focused on Needed Me since it’s already charting on it’s own. Kiss It Better just doesn’t seem like the type of song to dominate the current Billboard. It’s more of a fan/music lover favorite and not your typical general music listener. Whether the GP will eat it up idk. We’ll have to wait at least another 2 week’s to see how it fair’s on all platforms. Sam this post was way to early.
I completely agree and thank you for remaining honest. I think she should have focused on “Needed Me” also seeing as it’s already charting on and is continuously rising in streams, downloads and radio airplay. I can only imagine how high that song would soar if and when she releases the video. We should at least several more weeks to see where ‘Kiss It Better’ is headed.
