August Alsina’s second album may have tanked but his debut LP ‘Testimony’ has made silent but serious moves two years after its release.
Good news below…
The LP dropped on April 15th 2014 and opened with 67,000 units on the Billboard 200.
Since then, the project has become somewhat of a “sleeper smash” by creeping to the 500,000 units sold mark shortly before its second birthday.
Sure to surprise those who had written the singer off following the commercial failure of his follow-up ‘This Thing Called Life’, the album’s new RIAA certification automatically makes it one of the highest-selling sets to be released by an R&B newbie.
In fact, the set’s sales have seen it kick Gold dust in the face of Pop efforts launched by Selena Gomez (‘Stars Dance’), Shawn Mendes (‘Handwritten’) Demi Lovato (‘Confident’) and Fifth Harmony‘s ‘Better Together’….without the support of Top 40 radio formats.
Thank you David for highlighting August’s successful first Album. I personally love reading your posts, you bring life to the facts. I I personally, am a HUGE fan of August. His first album really changed
Good for HER
* my opinion of the artist and after to listening to Kissing on my Tattoo’s I fell in Love. If it wasn’t for you David I would have never known the full extent of his success in comparison to the artists mentioned. This is evidence that, if he had the support he needed and more promotion he would slay the game.
What about Elijah Blake? Rita Ora?
Slay zaddyyyy *bends over and touches toes*
???. Troll! Wait till AnaLEASE gets here.
Sis I have a reason to believe you ARE annaLESS. You, HistoRIH, BeachhouseBritney and all those other generic random usernames are the same person.?
Lol funny how usernames always magically get switched in Roc Nation FLOP artist posts. I knew it was gonna happen Kii.?? True tea. DatRihannaReign and now I’m Truth Serum whoever the hell that is! Elijah Blake and Rita Ora are still FLOPS now matter how many times I get a random username change. ???FLOP FLOP FLOP
This is proof that if an artists makes music true to their roots and puts on strong singles the fans will purchase. This album going gold is a damn success!! When you think about the how small the market is i am so happy!
I hope he does it again
This album is golden!!! Inhale is still my favorite Aug song.
gratz to him.
He so skinny and fine if he gain weight he’ll be even finer???
Wow! Congratulations August! ! His album “This thing called life” is the a very good album! I think it was one of the best male R&B albums to come out last year. Hope that one reaches the same success.
