Welcome to another edition of Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to honour the work of artists responsible for some of Pop culture’s brightest moments.
Today, as her role of villain on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘ keeps her name hot on the lips of a new generation of TV lovers, we honour Kenya Moore‘s contributions to music, fashion and film and the often overlooked career she enjoyed before becoming a “Housewife.”
Born on January 24th 1971, Moore rose to stardom aged 22 when she became the winner of Miss USA in 1993.
What came next was a fruitful run in Hollywood which saw her support African-American fronted projects with performances which, for better or worse, would lead her to ‘Housewives’ front door.
Take that journey to the past with us via clips pulled from her projects below…
Has she died or something?
That was cute…
Favorites: crowning, Hot Parts, In The House, Parenthood and Money Ain’t a Thang.
Deliver Us From Eva full movie I saw earlier.
Queen Kenya aka black babie ???????? #Keyonce
This was very nice TGJ. I always learn from these retro rewinds . I was born in 2003 so missed out on a lot of these moments.
I also liked her appearances on Martin and Girlfriends! Both were very funny
She was also in “Waiting to exhale”
That was cute. I didn’t realise she could act.
Looking back I can see she def had that ass injected though. lol
She’s not a favorite of mine but at least she can keep a job.
Nice for her
LOL Lumpy and Reeces lol…that “Deliver Us From Eva” scene.
Her face has changed a bit…maybe weight gain?
Our faces tend to change as we get older. For better or for worse.
