Join us as we celebrate two decades of a group that will forever be etched in music’s DNA. Today’s pick was released exactly 20 years ago and hasn’t aged. It’s Destiny’s Child’s ‘No, No, No (Part 2).’
Originally conceived as slow jam, the classic incarnation of the track came in its remixed format courtesy of Fugees alum, Wyclef Jean – who was also a guest rapper on the track.
The single was the band’s first of many chart hits, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and claiming the top spot of the Hip-Hop/R&B tally in the US. It reached the Top 5 in the UK. Pretty amazing for a debut single.
************
Darren Grant directed the song’s visual. Ironically, in the clip, the girls look like a truly seasoned act – which in a way was the case considering the intensive training they’d been through with Mathew Knowles.
Operating at swag level 100, DC’s original line-up (comprised of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson) showcased that special something that kept this from being yet just another music video.
This week we’re not only celebrating two decades of ‘No, No, No,’ but 20 years of Destiny’s Child as a band and how their presence has changed music history forever.
From their work as a group to their solo endeavors, the ladies of DC have continued to set new standards and we’re confident that’s a trend that won’t be stopping anytime soon.
Needless to say, if and when they’re ready for a reunion, the world will chant in unison “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah”!
Beyonce and the children
Destiny’s Child real name should have been “Beyonce and Dem” like they used to say on the radio.

It was trash back then and is trash now, nothing memorable about this song.
LOL The unhealthy obsession.
I love that Beyonce is living rent free in that empty head of yours. And the fact that you are in EVERY Queen Bey post that is put up, is saying just that. Stay pressed and drugged up you clown lol.
Obviously she’s a fan of FRAUDULENT singers!!
Nothing memorable about this song but the rap/singing style the girls introduce is what’s popular of today! #Superfacts
@TrellBeyLike #SuperWrong #SuperDumb. Rap/Singing style originated back in the late 70s and continued on in the 80s and 90s. Popular acts like Janet Jackson and Jody Watley had long done rap/singing in the 80s and 90s and their songs went to #1 on the Billboard Charts (not just #3 like this song did). DC was copying their style. This DC song is forgettable. The popular DC songs are Soldier, Say My Name, and Survivor.
Matthew or Beyonce could have let Kelly or let” sing one of the verses regardless. Maybe then the group would have more diversity and who knows maybe the other two wouldn’t leave but guess what cant change history. Congrats to all of them though. Collectively they are the best group in history.
awesome back then, still awesome now… DC the group and the solo acts will always be my favs <3
CLASSIC
Beyoncé will be bringing out all the girls during Coachella (minus Farrah). Watch
I’ve always preferred the slow version. The one with Wyclef always sounded like the vocals were sped up a little too much.
