Michael B. Jordan is baring all about his bid to banish racial biases from his filmography!
Why he went after roles written for white men?
Find out below…
Tired of being asked to play harmful & stereotypical roles, Jordan set out to play characters originally written for white men as he could be sure that those roles were written with care.
I said, I don’t want it. I want to only go for, like, roles written for white males. That’s it. Me playing that role is going to make it what it is. I don’t want any pre-bias on the character.
Will Smith said it first, but likely at his dinner table.
I commend him for his tenacity at challenging Hollywood’s standards of what a good actor looks like regardless of race. It’s a bold move to not play the tropey “black” guy all the time. His openness about his disposition will surely resonate as very relevant in the change many of us want to see happen in Hollywood and movies to come. Good for him!
