Smile is probably the last thing dedicated fans of Katy Perry, affectionately known as #Katycats, will do once they cop a gander of the latest Billboard 200.
The diva’s latest LP, ‘Smile,’ is noticeably absent from the hitlist despite assistance from an aggressive promotional campaign that saw her not only launch multiple buzz and official singles in its support but also perform at or be featured in a host of top-named television programs, Web or print outlets, and more.
Unlisted on the album chart’s newest edition printed this week, the departure from the tally (in what would’ve been its fifth week) comes as the shortest stay any of her major label studio projects have experienced to date.
Among the last month’s high profile releases, her brief tenancy was bested only by serial hitmaker 6ix9ine.

Listed at #167 on last week’s Billboard 200, this week saw 6ix9ine’s ill-fated sophomore album – ‘Tattletales’ – exit the tally in what would’ve been its fourth week.
Unlike Perry, the rapper’s project boasted two Hot 100 top 5 hits – ‘TROLLZ’ (#1 peak) and ‘GOOBA’ (#3 peak). Even with the aforementioned considered, 6ix9ine’s effort premiered in the album chart’s top 5 but rendered considerably less numbers than originally predicted- just like Perry.
Also like Katy, the abbreviated run of ‘Tattletales’ on the hitlist comes as the shortest among his studio albums to date.

Not all #1 Billboard Hot 100 charting songs (I didn’t use the word “hit” purposefully) are created the same or even equal.
Most people with ears have NEVER heard Trollz and never will, meanwhile there are plenty of top 5 songs that didn’t reach #1 that are classics, as in, played at weddings, graduations, anniversaries, etc.
That’s why I’m not hung up on what hits #1.
