Eva Longoria is clearing the air.
The actress was recently slammed for her comments about Latina women being the real heroines of the 2020 presidential election (as we reported here). Now the ‘Desperate Housewives’ star is attempting to clarify those comments.
Her words below:
‘I’m so sorry and sad to hear that my comments on MSNBC could be perceived as making credit from Black women. When I said that Latinas were the heroines of this election, I simply meant that they turned out in greater numbers and votes more progressively than LATINO MEN.”
“My wording was not clear and I deeply regret that. There is such a history in our community of anti-Blackness in our community and I would never want to contribute to that.”

Despite her apology, there has been a mixed reaction to her words on Twitter:
🙌🏾 thanks for coming back out and elaborating on your words. We’ve just gone through 4 years of hell and I think some have forgotten what it means to just accept an apology.

This sounds like you’re not sorry for what you said, you’re sorry for how it was received. Gaslighting black women for not subscribing to your tired point isn’t an apology, that’s saving face, ma’am. pic.twitter.com/IQnbEOWWWI

As a Hispanic, lifelong democratic woman it gave me great joy to hear your interview. You are right👍Latin women represented & contributed significantly in this election. That statement certainly takes nothing away from any other part of society or the electorate. You did good,Eva

With that, what are…
Eva, you’re cancelled and showed the world how racist you are. You must be Camila’s great aunt with the s*** you said.
Camila’s family are Cubans while Eva’s are Spanish.. get your sh*t together cuz this post was RACIST AF too bish
Ummmm…eva is MEXICAN
I guess all these perfect critics have never tried to say something and had it come out in a mistakenly and misleading way. Most of us are just lucky that we don’t have to do any public speaking or else we would have an occasion or two where we’d have to apologize or restate something every now and then. She didn’t say she was only sorry for how it was received, she also admitted that her expression or the way she said it was in error, she didn’t mean for it to come out that way. How dare she be a human being and say one thing but mean another. Bottom line is she wanted Latina women to get credit as well. Who cares who gets or deserves the most credit? As long as we are all fighting for the same goal and we all win together, that’s all that matters.
She is so naturally beautiful.
