The first look trailer has arrived for ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday.’
Directed by Lee Daniels and anchored by Andra Day in the lead role, the film follows iconic Jazz singer Holiday during her career as she is targeted by the Federal Department of Narcotics with an undercover sting operation led by Black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher, with whom she had a roller coaster affair.
Hotly anticipated, the movie – which also stars Trevante Rhodes – premieres February 26 on Hulu. It’s also set for UK release; details of which are expected imminently.

This really looks good and I’m excited to see it. I just hope it accurate and truthful and not too ‘polished’ and commercialized. Also hope Lee Daniels has grown as a director. Andra surprised me, she mastered the accent and Billie southern pronunciation.

This one comes close to greatness at times, mostly due to the vibrant costumes & production design and Andra Day’s fiery & soulful performance but its parts don’t add up to a satisfying whole.

Andra Day is very good & gives the role her all, but she sadly can’t save this mess of a film.
The direction, script, editing, & the bulk of the performances are all bad.

I get that you may think its cute banter, but it’s annoying and makes you come across like trash!
Can’t stand Andra’s album or her songs, BUT this looks like it might be something great. I hate that this pandemic keeps good movies out of the big screen experience in the US. Will be watching this one definitely!
