In a shock move, HBO has announced that the critically acclaimed ‘Lovecraft Country’ will not be returning for a second season.

Anchored by Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett, the wildly popular show blended real-life historical events with Afro-Futurism.
Produced by Jordan Peele, it quickly garnered a loyal following, award recognition, and it consistently delivered solid ratings for the premium cable network.
However, those feats combined were not enough to yield a season two return.
In a statement Deadline, HBO reps said:
“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country. We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey.”
Devasting. The show was easily one of the most gripping new offerings in recent memory.

Well, that sucks but I hope to see the individual cast members move forward in their careers.
That sucks! This is a rly rly rly good show…and got nominations. First Insecure, now this! 😡😡😡😡
Why would they? Twitter “intellectuals” were so dramatic about “Them” and “trauma p***”. They didn’t want to hear the complaints. We say we want representation in genres we are left out of, but what we really want is more drug dealer films and dysfunctional caricatures.

This news is very disappointing. Lovecraft is the first and only primetime cable series I have ever purchased on DVD/Blu-ray, and I watch A TON of television. I loved the mix of drama, horror and sci-fi. The acting was superb and so were the sfx and production design. It’s rare for such a great cast like this to be featured in a horror or sci-fi story. I’m angry the more I talk about it.
A sad week for black men & women acting, if you can call it that. Oh well, next!

Wow, this us devastating for loyal fans of the show. I, as many others, was looking forward to another awesome season. Hope another network picks this show up.
However, “they” renewed that truly awful”Perry Mason”and praised the equally awful “The Undoing” over Lovecraft Country.
I always thought that Tic would be brought back to life using the “Book of Names” in season 2.
Oh Well…
