Naughton is on the receiving end of backlash after rising to the defense of Phylicia Rashad, who herself is under fire for celebrating the overturning of Bill Cosby‘s conviction for sexual assault.
As reported, the former ‘Power’ actress slammed Black people for embracing “cancel” culture and insisted “The Cosby Show changed lives.”
Reacting to the news, her former bandmate Williams took to Twitter with:
“Omfg. Somebody bring me a two piece. She talking crazy again.
“
Of course, the comment referred to Naughton’s long-held claim that Williams hurled a piping hot bucket of KFC chicken at her during an argument. A move, she says, ended her tenure in the group.
Williams has always denied the allegation.
Clapping back at the ‘Spectacular’ singer, Naughton replied:
“Finally! She tells the TRUTH! Haha… worrying about me, you done told on yourself! #GrabMeABiscuit while ur at it boo!
#Lying4years”
Unfazed, the 36-year-old concluded:

My issue with Naturi that I don’t understand is that she said blacks are so quick to cancel each other and stood by Phylicia Rashad which makes me think that she clearly stands by Bill Cosby. But blacks have cancelled Kiely for years over the chicken incident (which is a lot less than raping women) and made fun of her mercifully for years as well and she never spoke up about that. So if it happens directly to you, cancel culture must be ok then huh Naturi? Seems like an oxymoron to me tbh

At the end of the day, what Naturi faced in 3LW was nothing any different than what the girl groups before her time faced as well…some went thriugh worse! And yet, still manage to put it behind them and stay friends against it all. Every girl group comes with its own tragic tale and downfalls from the supremes to the Ronnettes to TLC to the spice girls to Xscape to 702 to destiny’s child to Danity Kane to PCD to 5thHarm…the list goes on! Nothing is any different. Naturi was never black balled and I remember an article written by MTV or VH1 from an interview she did with them saying she was contradicting herself during their interview given to the fact that she did an interview with Wendy Williams prior and giving stories that didn’t match up. And she was hardly blackballed because like 2 or 3 years later after being ousted, she was in commercials and receiving little bit parts that I can recall from back in the day because I was surprised each time she popped up. She was just ultimately boring tbh (and still is quite frankly) and I feel that’s why she never succeeded immediately after leaving the group. She wasn’t the greatest singer (that was Adrienne) nor the greatest dancer (that was Kiely) she just brought the diversity to the group with her being dark-skinned and it worked…it fit to the time and era. And as far as the most successful one from the group goes…that’s cute! But a damn lie…the most successful one but yet has a net worth of 800 thousand lmao. Chile make it make sense. Adrienne is the most successful and that’s on periodt and don’t have too much high hopes for her show on ABC to succeed because it’s gonna get canceled. ABC caters to suburban white families and that ghetto mess won’t stand a chance. Maybe on Bet, but not ABC. And then you say she was a victim in her scenario, which she was, so why isn’t she standing with these other victims who have tried to have their voices heard for years but were muted if she was truly muted back in the day as well? I would figure with such a journey, she would be able to relate to those just like her because Bill was notorious for blackballing those who went against him back in the day and Phylicia deserved the backlash she received from that post she made. You can support your friend in other ways that doesn’t take away or deflect from the truth and reality of those harmed. Somethings are just too soon to post. This is how cycles repeat and Bill Cosby being released is like a slap in the face to all the progress that has been done in this country to give voices to those effected by r***/abuse. I will always love the Cosby show and what it stood for the black community but at the end of the day, facts are facts and reality stands as is, and he should have thought about his actions beforehand which would have never led to present day events and him being a tragic tale himself now.
