The Weeknd, along with his collaborators Nicolas Jaar and Frank Dukes, is being sued by Suniel Fox and Henry Strange of the group Epikker. The two are suing The Weeknd over plagiarism claims about the similarities between ‘Call Out My Name’ and their song ‘Vibeking.’

According to Law360, the suit alleges:

“Both works are in a minor key. Both works are in a 6/8 meter that is less common in popular music. Both works are played at a similar tempo. And both works use features of electronica, ambience, pop, hip-hop, rock, and R&B to achieve a particular atmospheric and melancholic sound.”

Fox and Strange allege they were in correspondence with the Weeknd’s DJ and engineer PNDA, who said that he was not going to credit the two on ‘Call Out My Name.’

The track became a top 5 hit for The Weeknd, when it peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The suit claims that Fox and Strange seek all profits from the track along with the legal fees amassed during this process.

Neither The Weeknd, nor Universal Music Group have responded at this time.
