Usher is lighting up Las Vegas with his revered residency at Dolby Live.
And while the concert series is proving the hottest ticket in Sin City, the R&B veteran isn’t resting on his laurels.
Stopping by Big Boy in the Neighbourhood, the Diamond-certified singer chopped it up about Vegas, his love for the likes of Michael Jackson and Chris Brown, his upcoming Paris residency, and his long-awaited new studio album.
Watch after the jump…
Speaking on the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Hard II Love,’ Usher said:
“I’m getting ready to launch my next album.
I wish I could tell you (more). I can tell you only so much. You’ve got a piece of it with ‘Glu.’ Me and L.A. Reid and Keith Thomas (my A&R), we’re working on something really incredible. It’s going to be an amazing piece of history in my mind.
Every album, I’m trying to create something for “that” moment. I ain’t really thinking about the past. I am mindful of it, but I want to create something that I feel is connected. And I’ve been working on this album for some time. The pandemic obviously put a hold on a lot of things and I’m methodical in the sense of wanting to make a cohesive body of work. Visuals. Music. And all those things that go together. By the end of this year, you’ll have that album.”

We’re ready for new Usher! Are you?
Hunnie, we need mo uptempo stuff💅🏾 why don’t he jump on the Disco/sync pop wave bandwagon???? You can keep your lame ass boring R&B bull s h I t
Doubt it will outdo His last FLOP. Hard II Love debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200, earning 38,000 album-equivalent units (including 28,000 copies as pure album sales). 😆 🤣 😂
Flop! Breezys lessor😭
Hate to say it but Breezy, Bruno and the Weeknd are the modern sound of Mainstream R&B, although Bruno’s R&B isn’t exactly new. I LOVE Usher but his current music isn’t gaining much traction with Gen Z. It isn’t because of age since Beyonce & Nicki are still charting.
His biggest supporters are Gen X & Millennials at this point.
Ushers mainstream days are over. He was a mainstream act at Chris Brown and The Weeekends ages too. He’s a legacy act at this point. He’s been doing a fine job at cementing his legacy. That Vegas residency keeps selling out and tickets reselling for thousands of dollars. Gen Z isn’t dependable. They’re broke and finicky, LOL
Agree.
Usher has created TIMELESS Music and this has payed off for him.
I’m not saying he needs Gen Z. He’s been doing fine without them. I wonder if Chris, The Weeknd & Bruno will get the same support from their GENERATION once they peak.
That’s the keyword: timeless! Even some of his trendy hits still have a timeless sound because of his vocals and arrangements. This upcoming generation is all about instant gratification and that’s why old music is outselling new music for the first time EVER! I like CB and The Weekend but I don’t see them being relevant at Ushers age. Bruno, yes.
Sir, it’s April. Talk when you have a release date and a tracklist.
My sentiments exactly…. He been teasing this album for 5 years. Hopefully it’s really dropping this time around
True tea, glitterpuss wtf you guys are just weird. Nobody cares and stop throwing these made up xya labels they aren’t real. You don’t mean anything like At the end Usher is best at making singles for sure. He’s in the top 10 right now on the R&b charts so. He keeps milking this album though lol.
F*** is he always smiling for. That’s why I like Beyonce she don’t give nobody nothing they don’t need
Rkelly is King of RNB USHER second to that f*** he keep smiling for
Smiling because he’s not in jail OR disgraced OR broke. Selling out in Vegas every night with dates added until the end of the year. THATS why he’s smiling. How’s that jail cell smelling Mr. Kelly?
He been smiling before Vegas.. It show he a man who not that tuff.
Rkelly can handle jail he still alive b****. He King of RNB
