Two years after the Biden administration officially made Juneteenth a federal holiday, the White House continues to trumpet the historic move by announcing the first-ever Juneteenth concert on the South Lawn.
Details inside.
Announced Wednesday (June 7), the musical celebration – supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Pernod Ricard USA, STARZ #TakeTheLead Initiative, National Endowment for the Humanities, and The Recording Academy – will take place June 13.
Big names set to make appearances or perform at the event are EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson, Colman Domingo, Audra McDonald, Method Man, Ledisi, Patina Miller, Nicco Annan, Step Afrika!, and others.
The Juneteenth concert will also celebrate Black Music Month by welcoming performances from HBCU entities like Fisk Jubilee Singers, Hampton University Concert Choir, Morgan State University Marching Band, and Tennessee State University Marching Band.
