Things are heating up between Aretha Franklin‘s sons and the legal battle over her estate.

Months after Franklin’s passing in 2018, a will was found under her sofa cushion and another was found in a cabinet, according to the BBC.
Now, a jury has determined that the will found in the sofa is actually valid.
It was first thought that there was no will after her passing, which meant everything was going to be split between equally among her children.
Now, a major victory has been handed to Kecalf Franklin and Edward Franklin whose legal team argued that the will dated for 2014 is the real one.
The jury debated for less than an hour and Kecalf explained to NBC that he was “very happy” with the decision that was made.
While the sons have argued over which one is real, Franklin’s kids will still share in Franklin’s music revenue and copyrights.
The main difference between the wills is that Kecalf would inherit his mother’s Bloomfield Hills home valued at $1.1 million at the time of Aretha’s passing.
The older will also said that Kecalf and Edward “must take business classes and get a certificate or a degree in order to benefit from the estate, however, that was removed in the 2014 will.
Clarence Franklin, the eldest child, is not involved in the dispute because is under legal guardianship.
According to the BBC, Franklin’s assets are valued at just under $6m.
