Via Instagram, the music legend wrote:

“I am so happy with @beyonce’s version of my song ‘Blackbird’. I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place. I think Beyoncé has done a fab version and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out. You are going to love it!

I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing it and letting her do it. I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a killer version of the song. When I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can’t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now. Anything my song and Beyoncé’s fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud.”

Love!

When did Michelle Obama cover Blackbird? Last I checked she wasn’t a recording artist , yet alone a singer. You just wanna be contrarian and derail the post. Nice try hater.

Before there was, First Lady Obama.. there was Beyoncé. Plus, you can’t compare a Beyoncé & Mrs. Obama. They both in two different levels that represents blacks.

“ I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing it”, that took me out. Writing is everything. The ammunition Beyonce gets from these albums and singles is because she be having the whole world work on her project. They be too big to “fail,” commercially cuz everybody tryna get make money back: stylists, choreographers, composers and arrangers, vocalists and most importantly among others, the writers! Sis has been scamming her way around the charts and stages with songs that belong to Solange and other far more dedicated and destined artists in the industry who can not only WRITE, but ENGAGE, with the world. She ain’t no damn Paul Mc Cartney. The closest thing she and them hives are are a bunch of Beetle Borg’s. But we totally get why everyone is saying she ate it up. They don’t wana look stupid like Taraji and ruin their own moment cuz Oprah is a b****. But time will heal all wounds. #ToBeContinued
